Donate to Denver EyePaws
General Info
Denver Eye-Paws is an official puppy-raising club for Guide Dogs for the Blind, Inc., a national 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Our club is covered by the 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt status of the national Guide Dogs organization.
Although our local club is too small to require an audit, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Inc., undergoes annual audits of its finances, including its accounting of clubs like Denver Eye-Paws. You can get information about Guide Dogs for the Blind finances or the program as a whole at www.guidedogs.com.
Costs Associated With the Club and Being a Puppy Raiser
Being a puppy-raiser is a 100% volunteer activity! Typical expenses for raisers include:
- Specific, approved food
- food & water dishes
- specific, approved toys
- a kennel
- boarding costs for females in season
- occasional veterinarian expenses for pups (we are reimbursed by Guide Dogs for most of these)
- We also have to attend regular meetings and outings with our pups, so we have to cover transportation costs for that.
As a club, Denver Eye-Paws is also "volunteer" in a sense and must support its own training activities. We do not receive monies or equipment from the national organization, so we rely on donations from our club members or the public. Typical club expenses include:
- training supplies for group meetings (distraction toys, Rally course items, etc.)
- kennels, dog runs, x-pens
- recognition for puppy raisers
- costs associated with event space or speakers
- underwriting the costs of a harnesses for a club puppy who graduates to be a working guide dog
Cash Donations
If you would like to support our club with a cash donation, please contact puppies@denvereyepaws.org. We then mail your check to the national organization, which credits our account with your generous donation.
